Journalism How China is pushing the envelope in aircraft development as it tries to catch up with the United States and Europe. Several military aircraft projects are examined along with my custom aircraft artwork that were published in the articles.
Journalism For roughly half a decade, I was in-charge of foreign affairs at a newspaper. My job was to copy edit agency/syndicated news copy, select associated photos from the agencies and assemble one entire page for the newspaper, per day. To these tasks, I added graphic design, and as consequence, these were some of the most exciting and fun years that I had in my career as a journalist. My memories of those years are replete with nostalgia, full of idealism as they were. The agency photographs accelerated my interest in photography.
Book A planned science-fiction-adventure trilogy that I am working on.
Book The Western Ghats (a sprawling rain forest) on India’s west coast is a biodiversity hotspot. You would think that makes it important for conservation – and it is being protected for the most part – although the landscape is also under siege from India’s growing population. This book project allowed me to speak to scores of ordinary people who lived in small towns and villages along the “ghats” and within it. Working on the book (published in 2014) also allowed me to think seriously and professionally about design and cartography.

News Art Created while I was handling foreign news for a newspaper, but also some older stuff, from 2011 to 2016.
Infographic Looking at the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden. Created a day or two after the action happened. The art is a bit dated now.
Infographic A tribute to and examination of the Tintin comic books which were published from 1930 to 1976, and captured nearly 50 years of the European zeitgeist. The post-WWII books, showing a resurgent Europe trying to reclaim its cultural and philosophical wholeness are the best of the series, in my opinion.
Infographic An examination of the conflict in Somalia, 1993.
Computer Art An old bit of work (now), created when I was a teenager (a thousand years ago now feels like), and comprising the color side profiles of various WWII aircraft. These artwork bits allowed me to hone my skills in Adobe Photoshop.
